Byte Footage is a festival that explores the artistic appropriation and use of images, sounds, and materials that are part of the infinite internet archive. The festival examines how those digital materials, often created in northern latitudes, are used and re-interpreted in Latin American art.
Images and archives are constantly extracted from their original context to be appropriated and resignified. Byte Footage invites artists, theorists, and activists to think about the possibilities and the various uses of these materials.
Year after year, mainly in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Byte Footage takes different forms: festivals, workshops, talks, and exhibitions.
